Pig indicators used in pipeline pigging operations are generally installed on the incoming and outgoing pipelines of long-distance pipelines. After long-term use, the pig indicator will appear in equipment corrosion and aging of the rubber sealing ring of the movement. Retractor Tool EMT-WRTV introduction

Corrosion coupons are necessary equipment to detect or evaluate the corrosion status of the pipeline system. It can accurately display the corrosion situation inside the pipeline system and assist in the maintenance of the pipeline.

At present, the corrosion coupons used at home and abroad can basically meet the requirements for detecting the corrosion status of pipelines, but most of them require pipeline pressure relief and stop production, resulting in large economic losses.

Based on the above reasons, our company has developed a pressure removal tool that can remove the corrosion coupon under pressure without the need for pipeline pressure relief and shutdown. Its main components are made of stainless steel, Its main components are composed of stainless steel, which is characterized by acid and alkali resistance and corrosion resistance. The pressure removal tool belongs in the form of mechanical contact and is sensitive and reliable.

Equipment structure

1. Hammer Nut— Connecting base and the Service Valve (PTFE coating) ;
2. Service Valve– Connecting Retriever, used for internal pressure adjustment of pressure removal tools (PTFE coating);
3. Bleed Valve— Used to release internal pressure of pressure removal tool (stainless steel) ;
4. Bypass Valve– Used for internal pressure balance of pressure removal tool (stainless steel);
5. Adapter– Used to connect corrosion coupons and Retriever (stainless steel) ;
6. Plug Drive– For removing and installing the drive plug of corrosion coupons (stainless steel) ;
7. Plug Lifter– Used for linkage of internal and external magnetic steel plugs (high-intensity magnetic steel) ;
8. Stop Block– For fixing Plug Lifter (stainless steel) ;
9. Retriever– Connecting the gear plate valve for lifting and installation of corrosion coupons (stainless steel);

Retrieval Of Corrosion Coupon

• Installation of Adapter

Remove the protective cover from the base, then remove the Pipe Plug on the plug body, and install the Adapter at the previous Pipe Plug position, Note that the hexagons on the Adapter are aligned with the hexagons on the plug body, and the lock is locked.

• Installation of Hammer Nut and Service Valve

Install the Hammer Nut and Service Valve on the base and lock them tightly. Note that the Service Valve should be open at this time.

• Installation of Retriever

Install the Retriever on the Service Valve and lock it tight.

• Removal of the corrosion coupon

Land the Plug Lifter smoothly at the bottom, and rotate the drive shaft on the Plug Drive in the direction of “Removal” (turn right)on the Plug Drive mark. Note that press the Plug Lifter downward at this time, and try to lift the Plug Lifter upward during the rotation. If it cannot be lifted, continue to rotate the drive shaft until the Plug Lifter can be lifted easily, lift the Plug Lifter to the highest position, and lock the Stop Block.

• Close the Service Valve

Turn the plate Valve drive shaft on the Service Valve to the right until it does not rotate, closing the Service Valve.

• Close the Bypass Valve

And turn the Bypass Valve spindle on the Service Valve to the right until it does not rotate, closing the Bypass Valve.

• Open the Bleed Valve

Turn the Bleed Valve spindle on the Bleed Valve to the left until it does not rotate, open the Bleed Valve, and release all the internal pressure of the pressurized removal tool.

• Open the Sealing Screw

Open the sealing screw at the top of the Retriever, drain all the liquid inside the pressure removal tool, and install the sealing screw back to its original position after draining.

• Remove the Retriever

Remove the Retriever from the Service Valve to complete the removal of the corrosion coupon.

Installation Of Corrosion Coupon

• Installation of Retriever

Install the Retriever with the corrosion coupon on the Service Valve and lock it tight, note that the Plug Lifter should be at the top at this time.

• Close the Bleed Valve

Turn the Bleed Valve spindle on the Bleed Valve to the right until it does not rotate, closing the Bleed Valve.

• Open Bypass Valve

Turn the Bypass Valve spindle on the Service Valve to the left until it does not rotate. Then open the Bypass Valve to balance the pressure inside the tool and the pipe.

• Open the Service Valve

Open the Service Valve by turning the plate valve drive shaft on the Service Valve to the left until it does not rotate, then open the Service Valve.

• Installation of corrosion coupons

Land the Plug Lifter smoothly at the bottom, and rotate the drive shaft on the Plug Drive to the “installation” direction (left rotation) on the Plug Drive mark. Note that press and hold the Plug Lifter downward until it does not rotate. Raise the Plug Lifter to the top and close the Stop Block.

• Open the Bleed Valve

Turn the Bleed Valve spindle on the Bleed Valve to the left until it does not rotate, open the Bleed Valve, and release all the internal pressure of the pressurized Retractor Tool EMT-WRTV.

• Open the Seal Screw

Open the sealing screw at the top of the Retriever, drain all the liquid inside the pressure removal tool, and install the sealing screw back to its original position after draining.

• Close the Bleed Valve

Turn the Bleed Valve spindle on the Bleed Valve to the right until it does not rotate, closing the Bleed Valve.

• Remove the Retriever

Remove the Retriever from the Service Valve.

• Remove of Hammer Nut and Service Valve

And remove the Hammer Nut and Service Valve from the base.

• Remove of Adapter

Remove the Adapter from the plug.

• Installation of Pipe Plug and protective cover

Install the Pipe Plug back on the plug body and lock it, and install the protective cover back on the base to complete the installation of the corrosion coupon.

Note: After each use of the pressure Retractor Tool EMT-WRTV, the pressure removal tool and each component should be wiped clean, and kept dry, all areas with O-rings are greased to prevent corrosion damage.
