4. Overall structure of Magnetic Pig Detector

Wiring: Facing the right side of the screen is the wiring interface, usually 4 wires. Black and red are power connections. They can be connected to a 6-24V DC power supply. (Red is positive, black is negative). Pay attention to the internal and external power supply mode selection switch of the power supply. The other 2 are remote transmission signal line interfaces. The white line is the common terminal. The yellow line is normally open. (Use a multimeter to detect open circuit status. Generally, the signal line is only connected to the normally open and common terminals). The size of the power interface and remote transmission interface is M20*1.5 or 1/2NPT. Add a conversion connector interface to a 3/4NPTF internal connector.

5. How to use the Magnetic Pig Detector

(1) Installation

First, secure the equipment to the pipeline.

1) Select the clamping mechanism (clamp) according to the pipeline specifications. Fix the clamping mechanism in the desired position. Pay special attention to the pipe with insulation. During installation, the sensing mechanism should be attached to the metal pipe wall. (See the clamp installation diagram), perform thermal insulation after installation. (For special temporary use, it can also be installed directly on the insulation layer).

(2) Start monitoring mode

After installing the power supply and selecting it through the jumper cap, the instrument starts running and displays the current time. Then enter the calibration procedure to automatically detect the initial threshold. Then start the monitoring mode and enter the pig monitoring state. (To ensure reliable operation, press the button to run the detection function once before each monitoring).

(3) Function description

This instrument provides 3 buttons: a selection button, an adjustment button, and a confirmation button.
Operate 4 functions: detection function, query function, clearing function, and time adjustment function.

1. Detection function:

The purpose is to ensure that the battery power supply is normal. The thresholds are consistent with local conditions at the time. The factory has already set and tested it before leaving the factory. due to differences in usage environments. Therefore, in order to ensure the accuracy of monitoring, this instrument provides a detection function. The usage method is as follows: Press the selection button, and the detection function light will light up. (If you press the selection key continuously, the four function lights will light up in turn. Press the selection key again. The lights will go out.

At this time, the instrument enters the pig monitoring state.), press the confirmation key at this time, and the instrument will automatically enter the detection state. The digital tube displays the instrument threshold and set value. Press the confirm key to exit the detection function. Press the selection key again to turn off the function light. The instrument enters the pig monitoring state. If the function light is on but is not extinguished through the selection key, and the system does not press any key for more than 3 seconds, it will automatically turn off the function light and enter the pig monitoring state.

2. Query function:

Press the selection key continuously. Select the query function and press the confirm key. Then the digital tube will display the number of passes stored by the instrument. Press the confirm button to query the time when the last pig passed. (If the instrument has no record, the digital tube will have no display). By pressing the adjustment key and selecting down, you will query the time of that pass. If you want to exit the query function, press the adjustment key continuously. Set the displayed number to zero to exit the query function. At this time, you can select other functions by selecting buttons. Or exit and enter the monitoring state. You can also directly wait for 3 seconds before automatically entering the monitoring state.

3. Clear function:

The instrument automatically records the time of each pass. A maximum of 99 times can be recorded. If it exceeds 99 times, the meter will automatically clear. In order to ensure reliable records and effective query, manual clearing is necessary. Press the select key to select the clear function. Press the confirm key, the digital tube will display 00 and then exit automatically. All internal records have been cleared.

4. Time adjustment function:

If you know or want to see whether the time is accurate, press the select key. Then select the time adjustment function. After pressing the confirm key, enter the time adjustment. At this time, the hour digits flash. We can adjust the hours by adjusting the buttons. (Only increment, increment to 24 and return to zero). If the hours are displayed correctly, you can also press the Confirm key to jump to the minutes adjustment. At this time, the minute digits are flashing. Press the adjustment key to adjust the minutes. (Only increment, increment to 60 and return to zero). Press the confirm key to exit the time adjustment, and the meter automatically stores the set time.

Regardless of the function, if there is no button pressed for more than 3 seconds, the instrument will automatically exit all functions. Then the Magnetic Pig Detector enters the pig monitoring state.

(4) Set instrument parameters (do not set them arbitrarily here)

After all the lights go out, press the “Select” button, then the “Detection” light will light up. Then press the “Confirm” key. The value that appears at this time is the initial magnetic field detection value. The value that appears automatically subsequently is the instrument alarm setting value. (The initial setting range of the instrument alarm setting value is “0-240″ cycle setting. The smaller the value, the higher the response sensitivity.

But the corresponding false alarm rate will increase. The higher the value, the less sensitive the instrument will be, but the anti-interference ability will be improved.) So the factory settings have been set according to the pipe specifications and magnetic block size. Do not adjust them at will. If adjustment is needed: Press the adjustment key continuously and quickly (increase the value by one level every 4 times). And then set the instrument alarm setting value to a certain value” (the value increases by 20 each time it changes. After reaching 240, it returns to 0 and continues to increase by 20 each time it changes). Set the instrument alarm setting value to the predetermined value and press the “Confirm” key to end the operation.

6. Precautions for installation and use

1. Do not hit the display window with heavy objects during installation. Do not use magnetic materials near the sensor.

2. The pigs that pass the test should be equipped with magnetic blocks. If there is no magnet block, you need to install the magnet block in the random accessory. Be careful not to collide with the pipe when installing. The magnetic block can be installed in the middle or rear of the pig frame.
If space permits, more magnetic blocks can be stacked and installed on the pig. (5mm thick must install more than two pieces)

3. The magnetic block is installed on the pig. The circular plane direction of the magnet block is parallel to the axial direction of the sensor base and the pipe. You can also choose the circular plane direction of the magnet block to be perpendicular to the sensor base and the axial direction of the pipe. *Also to make the magnetic signal sensing ability stronger. When installing the magnet block, make sure that the S pole is at the front of the pig. The N pole (the side with the installation counterbore) is at the rear end of the pig operation*. 4. For pipes with larger pipe specifications, it is recommended to use several more magnetic blocks together. For example, 2 pieces of 508 pipes can be used, and 3 pieces of 813 pipes can be bonded together.

5. If necessary, an extension rod can be used between the meter head and the sensor. To increase the installation height of the meter head, the length of the extension rod can be selected and designed according to actual needs.
