2. Installation of Vertical Quick Opening Closure

2.0 Initial Installation

The initial installation of Vertical Quick Opening Closure shall be carried out according to the following requirements:

  1. Firstly, the inner diameter of the quick opening closure is consistent with the inner diameter of the equipment. The circumferential seam alignment clearance is uniform. The difference between the maximum and minimum alignment clearance is ≤ 1.0mm. And the alignment misalignment is in table 1 of GB150.4-2011 standard.
  2. Before the quick opening closure is assembled with the equipment cylinder. The welding type must be determined first: 1) if double-sided welding is adopted. The head cover needs to be removed. (The specific operation process is according to 2.2 head cover removal in this manual. ) . 2) If single-sided welding is adopted, only remove the rubber sealing ring without removing the head cover.
  3. Before welding the quick opening closure to the equipment cylinder. Please carefully read this manual.: 2.2 weldings and welding deformation control and 2. 3 suggestions on post-weld heat treatment.

2.1 Disassembly of Head Cover

When the head cover needs to be removed for quick opening blind assembly and maintenance. The following procedures and requirements shall be followed:

  1. Firstly, open the head cover according to the opening requirements the of 3.0 head cover in this manual;
  2. Pad the quick opening closure in advance to avoid tilting, and then. 1) Remove the set screw in the center of the handwheel. 2) Remove the handwheel. 3) Remove the set nut at the lower end of the rotating shaft. and 4) loosen the positioning handwheel. Mark the removed parts and keep them properly;
  3. With the close cooperation of the crane. First remove the shaft sleeve I, rotating arm. And rotating shaft from the shaft sleeve II. Remove the head cover safely. Special reminder: During operation. Be sure to prevent bumps, bumps, scratches, and injuries between parts;

2.2 welding and welding deformation control

Welding deformation can be caused by weld shrinkage or improper welding operation during welding. To prevent and reduce welding deformation. The following provisions must be observed when assembling and welding the quick opening closure with the equipment cylinder:

  1. The butt joint clearance shall be uniform, and the maximum and minimum butt joint clearance shall be ≤ 1.0mm;
  2. Before welding, preheat the welding groove at 80 ~ 100 ℃. Or according to the welding process regulations of the equipment;
  3. The welding sequence of symmetrical welding must be adopted, which is very important to control welding deformation;
  4. During welding, the welding method of small diameter electrode, low current. And multi-layer welding shall be used to minimize the input of welding line energy. For large diameter quick opening closure with a diameter of more than1000mm. Automatic welding is allowed for cover welding;
  5. The weldments on the equipment shall be kept away from the circumferential weld. ( between the quick opening closure and the equipment barrel as far as possible.

2.3 Suggestions on post-weld heat treatment

  1. When heat treatment is carried out for the circumferential weld between the quick opening blind plate and equipment barrette l. The local heat treatment shall be adopted as far as possible.
  2. If the overall heat treatment is required in the manufacturing technical requirements of the general draw the equipmentipment. The sealing surface must be protected with rock wool, aluminum si, locate. Or other insulation materialserials to prevent its excessive oxidation from affecting the sealing performance of the product;
  3. The heat treatment process shall be carried out in strict accordance with Article 8.2 of GB150.4 or ASME standards. Or the mature heat treatment process of the heat treatment manufacturer.
  4. Attention! Remove all sealing rings before heat treatment. After heat treatment, the sealing surface shall be checked and lightly wiped clean with a fine emery cloth.

 

2.4 Coating

Before painting the quick opening FORVXUH, the following preparations must be made carefully:

  1. Disassemble stainless steel parts such as U-ring, drive handle seat, lock ring limit plate, and so on;
  2. Remove the locking plate and safety bolt, and protect all sealing surfaces, and relative sliding surfaces. Also locking rings, welding grooves, threaded holes, bolts, and nuts with adhesive paper or other methods. For the protection of the sealing surface, see the dark part in Figures 2.4 (1) and figure 2.4 (2).

It is very important to make the above preparations before painting! It can avoid affecting the assembly accuracy and service performance. Prevent sandblasting and paint from entering. And make the product beautiful

2.5 Reassembly of head cover

The process of reinstalling the head cover is just the opposite of the process of removing the head cover. (The names of all parts are as shown in Figure 1.0):

  1. While inserting the rotating shaft into the shaft sleeve (2). Insert the lead screw at the center of the head cover into the shaft sleeve (1) and adjust it. After adjustment, tighten the set nut at the lower end of the rotating shaft. Then assemble the hand wheel. And tighten the set screw at the center of the hand wheel. Attention during assembly. First, it must be positioned in advance and placed stably according to the assembly distance and station between workpieces. Second, during assembly, the guide groove on the lead screw and the guide bolt on the shaft sleeve. (1)  must be aligned and cannot be installed incorrectly. Third, during the assembly process, it is necessary to strictly prevent bumps, bumps, and scratches. And injuries between workpieces.
  2. After assembly, thoroughly clean and wipe the sealing surface and sealing groove, and evenly apply anti-rust grease. And then wipe the sealing ring clean. After inspection, reinstall the sealing groove. If the seal ring is found damaged or defective, it shall be replaced immediately;
  3. Rotate the rotating arm to align the center of the head cover with the center of the barrel flange. Then rotate the hand wheel counterclockwise to make the head cover fall to the bottom. And then check the alignment between the head cover and the barrel flange.

3. Operation of Vertical Quick Opening Closure

3.0 Opening of head cover

  1. Before opening the head cover, be sure to confirm that the equipment has been vented and blown down. And be sure to follow the safe operating procedures.
  2. Loosen the safety bolt. If there is residual pressure in the equipment. It will leak through the safety bolt relief tank. At this time, screw back the safety bolt and lock it. And recheck whether the vent valve and blowdown valve are open. And wait for the equipment to be completely vented and blow down.
  3. When it is determined that there is no residual pressure in the equipment. (the pointer of the pressure gauge on the equipment returns to zero and the airflow sound stops.) The opening operation can be carried out (see Figure 1.2). The specific operation steps are as follows: 1) first remove the safety bolt and lock plate assembly. 2) Turn the multi-purpose handle to the bottom according to the unlocking direction. (Shown in Figure 1.1 to make the lock ring retract in place. 3) Turn the hand wheel clockwise to lift the head cover. When the distance between the lower surface of the head cover and the upper-end face of the barrel flange is ≥ 50mm, stop the hand wheel;
  4. Push the rotating arm to rotate ≥ 100 ° to a position that does not affect the operation of the equipment. And tighten the positioning handwheel (not marked in Figure 1.0). So far, the whole process of opening the head cover is completed.

3.1 Closing and locking of head cover

The operating procedures are as follows:

  1. Before closing the head cover, the rust, water stains, residual paint, dirt, and dust. And other sundries affecting the sealing on the sealing surface, and sealing groove. And sealing ring surface must be thoroughly cleaned and wiped clean, and no dirt is allowed to remain;
  2. Carefully check whether there are cracks, scratches, permanent deformation, bulging, chemical damage. And other defects on the surface of the sealing ring. If any defects are found, the sealing ring must be replaced;
  3. Apply a layer of lubricating grease (Vaseline, glycerin, and other antirust oil) evenly on the sealing groove and sealing surface;
  4. Carefully put the sealing ring into the sealing groove. First, put it in the 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock directions, and press it with your hand. And then put it in the 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock directions to make the sealing ring evenly distributed. The sealing ring should be placed flat to the bottom without leaving any hanging place;
  5. Turn the hand wheel counterclockwise and close the head cover. Note: the force should be moderate and not too strong;
  6. Install the lock plate. Note: it should be installed in place along with the force. Do not install it forcibly. If the installation is not smooth. It may be that the lock ring or sealing ring is not in place and needs to be rechecked;
  7. Screw-in shear off bolts.

Note: it must be screwed in vertically by hand without inclination. The bolt shall be screwed with moderate force and not too hard.

3.2 Storage

If the quick opening closure needs to be stored, even if the storage time is short. It is necessary to remove the sealing ring, thoroughly clean, and wipe the sealing groove and sealing surface. And evenly apply anti-rust oil (grease, vaseline, and glycerol). Then reinstall the sealing ring into the sealing groove. Then wrap the quick opening closure with a plastic cloth and put it into the packing box for storage.

Quick opening closure must be stored indoors. If the air humidity in the storage environment is high, desiccant shall be considered moisture-proof. The storage life of the rubber seal ring is 2 years. If it is re-examined, no problems can be found, and the storage period can be extended for 1 year.

The storage conditions of rubber sealing rings are as follows:

  • Temperature: the storage ambient temperature shall not exceed 25 ℃, and the low temperature has little effect on the rubber
  • Light: avoid direct sunlight and strong ultraviolet radiation, and keep it in an opaque box.
  • Oxygen: the sealing ring shall be packed to avoid air circulation.
  • Deformation: the storage environment of the sealing ring shall be loose enough to avoid extrusion.  (by external force and mutual extrusion.)
  • Others: other storage methods such as “hanging” can be considered. If it is hung for storage, it cannot be hung at one point. And the hanging point shall be smooth without convex and sharp points.

3.3 Withstand voltage test

Whether it is the pressure test before the equipment leaves the factory. The pressure test after installation on the construction site. Or the overhaul pressure test during equipment operation. It must be carried out in strict accordance with the following requirements:

  1. Firstly, open the head cover according to 3.0 of this manual;
  2. Secondly, remove the sealing ring, and clean the sealing groove, and sealing surface. And the meshing tooth surface between the head cover and the cylinder flange. Completely remove all sundries such as water stain, rust, oil dirt, and dirt, and wipe them. And evenly apply anti-rust grease (glycerin, Vaseline, and lubricating grease);
  3. Then, wipe the sealing ring clean and check the surface for scratches. Also indentation, permanent deformation, and other damages or defects. If any damages or defects are found, they must be replaced;
  4. Install the sealing ring, first install it at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock, and also press and hold it. And then install it at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock.
  5. Close the head cover according to the 3.1 closure and locking of the head cover in this manual.
  6. At last, other operations for voltage withstand the test

4. Maintenance of Vertical Quick Opening Closure

4.0 adjustment of locking mechanism

If the opening and closing of the head cover are not smooth, the locking mechanism needs to be adjusted. Specific operations: 1) Close the head cover according to the closing. And locking of the head cover in 3.1 of this manual. 2) Check whether the eccentric wheel and limit nut are loose. If they are loose, they must be tightened. 3) Then repeat opening and closing for verification. 4) After adjustment, lubricate all rotating parts. During the above operations, special attention shall be paid to all bolts that must be tightened without any looseness.

4.1 Replace the sealing ring

    Firstly, if the sealing ring needs to be replaced. Please use a smooth flat tool without sharp edges and corners to take out the sealing ring. Do not use sharp tools to prevent damage to the sealing ring, sealing groove, and sealing surface! Otherwise, the medium will leak;

  2. Secondly, after removing the sealing ring, use fine sandpaper and a clean cloth to thoroughly clean. And wipe the dust and dirt on the sealing groove and sealing surface. Then evenly apply a layer of grease (grease, vaseline, and glycerin.) before installing a new sealing ring;
  3. At last, when installing the sealing ring, first install it in the 12 o’clock direction. Then install it in the 6 o’clock direction. And finally, install it in the 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock directions together. Be careful! Do not install the sealing ring upside down.

Special note: maintaining the lubrication of the sealing groove helps replace the seal and sealing ring. And preventing corrosion, and easy to operate

4.2 Routine maintenance

To keep the quick opening blind in good and safe working condition. The following routine maintenance shall be carried out regularly

a) Firstly, inspection and replacement records of safety bolts and their sealing gaskets (see Table I)
